2015 Courage Kenny Cards Holiday Art Search

The 2015 Courage Kenny Cards Holiday Art Search invites artists of all abilities to submit original two-dimensional artwork for reproduction on holiday cards. Approximately 30 pieces are selected each year. Selected artists receive a $400 license fee and nationwide recognition through distribution of more than 500,000 catalogs, promotional pieces, and the Courage Kenny Cards website, which features an artist photo, profile, and website link.

Artwork must fit into one of five categories: Thanksgiving (fall landscapes, leaves, pumpkins, wreaths, harvest); Symbols of the Season (ornaments, stars, snowflakes, children of the world, doves, wreaths, decorated trees, bells); Winter City Scenes (winter holiday scenes of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Chicago, Main Street USA); Religious Christmas (nativity scenes, three kings, Madonna and Child, Bethlehem); or Landscapes and Wildlife (winter trees, rivers, cardinals, chickadees, northwoods, home for the holidays scenes, nostalgic scenes). Artwork must be original work created by the applicant and does not have to be for sale, but a high quality scan must be available for reproduction. Submissions are limited to eight entries per artist. Digital entries only in JPEG format, 300 dpi, no more than 2100 pixels at the longest dimension. Files must be labeled with artist's first initial and last name followed by entry number.

A panel of judges from the greeting card industry reviews all entries based on theme, artistry, imagination, and marketability. The artist retains ownership and copyright of the artwork and grants Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the artwork on a Courage Kenny Card for five years. The artist's name, copyright notification, and title appear on the back of each card. Courage Kenny may change the title and/or add a border, design element, or title to create an appropriate marketable holiday card. Entry fee is $10. Application deadline: January 15, 2015. Notification: March 3, 2015. Delivery of original artwork or high quality digital image: March 21, 2015. Return of artwork: April 28, 2015.
