2015 Bonnaroo Call to Artists at Nashville International Airport

The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, in partnership with Arts at the Airport, is seeking proposals for 5 artistic Bonnaroo-themed displays at the Nashville International Airport in Nashville, Tennessee. The displays will be suspended from the ceiling from March 16, 2015 to January 24, 2016, encompassing 5 skylights located in airport concourses on the secure side of the terminal. Each selected artist will receive an honorarium of $2,000 and 2 free tickets to Bonnaroo 2015.

Each artist will create a site-specific sculpture or kinetic mobile for one skylight. The skylights have glass panels open to exposed sky with no UV protective glass, and there is a weight limit of 300 lbs per sculpture. Projects must creatively incorporate iconic Bonnaroo festival elements (such as the Bonnaroo Arch, Fountain, Fire Tower with Cuckoo Clock, fan atmosphere, and infinity symbol), display the 2014 location (Manchester, Tennessee), and reflect the Bonnaroovian Code (Prepare Thy Self, Play as a Team, Radiate Positivity, Respect The Farm, Don't be that Guy/Gal, and Stay True Roo). Projects may not include elements requiring electricity or maintenance after installation.

Applications must be submitted electronically via callforentry.org by November 9, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MST and include: artist or organization résumé (maximum 2 pages), biography (one to two paragraphs), 2-4 examples of previous work, 4-6 images of the proposed exhibit (photos, CAD drawings, etc.), and a written site-specific proposal (maximum 3 pages) describing dimensions, weight, installation method, and UV resistance of all materials. Each artist or organization may submit no more than two applications. Artists selected in previous years must wait one year before reapplying. Selected artists will be notified December 15, 2014, with delivery and installation scheduled for February 23 to March 13, 2015.
