2015 Bank of the Arts Juried Exhibition

The 2015 Bank of the Arts Juried Exhibition will be held October 8 - November 18 in New Bern, North Carolina. This year's exhibition features a collaborative "Art Inspires Poetry" project where poets will read works inspired by the juried exhibition artwork during ArtWalk on November 13, 2015. The opening reception will be held during the downtown New Bern ArtWalk on October 9.

The exhibition offers $2,000 in awards across five categories: 2D (paintings, mixed media), Contemporary Crafts (jewelry, textiles, wood, glass and metal art), Photography, Pottery, and Sculpture. Best in show receives $500 plus a one-month solo show in the main gallery. First prize in each category receives $200, and five $100 Merit Awards will be given. The juror is painter John Beerman, whose work is represented in major museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Artists 18 years or older may submit one, two, or three entries for a $30 fee. Only original works created within the last three years and not previously shown at the Craven Arts Council & Gallery are eligible. All work must be professionally framed and/or securely wired. Hanging pieces must not exceed 8 feet in any direction. All entries are available for sale with a 30% commission to the Craven Arts Council & Gallery. Accepted works should arrive between September 22 and October 3, 2015. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements. Pickup of unsold work is available November 19-25, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 317 Middle St., New Bern, NC 28560. Results will be notified on September 15, 2015.
