About This Call

Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF) is conducting an open entry competition to select six sculptures—valued at no more than $25,000 each—to be part of Northglenn's "Art on Parade" on-loan sculpture program. The selected pieces will be installed for one year at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park surrounding Webster Lake in Northglenn, Colorado, with placement beginning in late May 2015 and remaining on display until May 2016.

Each of the six finalists will receive a $700 honorarium. An additional $1,000 will be awarded to the artist who receives the annual "People's Choice Award." All pieces must be for sale. Since the program's inception in 2001, the NAHF has purchased each of the People's Choice winning sculptures, though purchase is not guaranteed.

Submitted sculptures must be garden-sized or larger (at least three feet in one dimension) and valued at no more than $25,000. Sculptures must be completed before the submission deadline and ready for outdoor installation, capable of being welded to a 1/4" steel plate or mounted using a system with no less than 3/8" bolts (minimum three-point bolting system required). Durable outdoor medium is acceptable; submissions must withstand outdoor elements and abuse. No hanging sculptures, wooden sculptures, or water features are permitted. Edition sizes over 50 will not be accepted.

Submit three images of one sculpture: two clearly showing front and back, and one showing detail with scale visible. Multiple sculpture submissions are allowed; each requires a separate CaFE profile and registration. The six sculptures chosen must represent six different artists; if submitting multiple pieces, the highest scoring will be considered. Insurance will be provided by the City of Northglenn. A committee of local citizens, businesses, students, and NAHF members will select sculptures based on artistic merit and appropriateness for outdoor display. The NAHF will promote the art through local and regional media and develop a full-color brochure describing the sculptures. Contact Director Michael Stricker at (303) 450-8727 or [email protected] for additional information.
