About This Call
The Transparent Watercolor Society of America is accepting entries for its 38th National Exhibition. The entry deadline is January 20, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Entry fee is $45 for one image or $50 for two images. An additional image costs $5. Membership in TWSA is required; non-members automatically become members upon entry. Life Members enter free with a coupon code. Applicants may also join TWSA separately at www.watercolors.org for $35 and receive a coupon code.
Entries must be transparent watercolor applied in a transparent manner on single sheet of 100% rag or cotton paper, free of pigment and embedded materials. Framed size will not exceed 50" in either direction with a minimum mat opening size of 8"x10". Unacceptable entries include white paint, gesso, acrylic, gouache, ink, pastel, metallic/iridescent paint, collage, surface constructions, embossing, varnishing, Yupo paper, digital images, or enhancements. Pencil marks are permitted only for planning. Digital image files must be JPEG format, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, and 3 MB maximum file size.
The exhibition runs January 10 - August 10, 2014 at Kenosha Public Museum. Notifications will be announced the first week of March. Paintings are due April 19-25. The exhibition opens May 10 and runs June 9-13 and June 16-20, with workshops by jurors Janet Rogers and Steve Rogers. A private reception and Celebrate Watercolor Awards Dinner are scheduled for June 14. The exhibition offers $25,000 in cash awards. A 35% commission is charged by the museum for paintings sold. All artists are responsible for insuring their paintings to and from the exhibition; the Kenosha Public Museum provides insurance during the exhibition. Fees are non-refundable.
