About This Call
This application is for the Summer Art Mart, Crafts Weekend, or both events. Applicants must specify which show they are applying for or expressly state that they are applying for both shows to be considered.
Art Mart 2014 is held every Wednesday through Friday from July 2 to August 1 and provides summer visitors with the opportunity to shop Alaska artists, artisans, authors and illustrators. The show will be comprised of 10 to 12 participants each week and will take place in the museum's Atrium in the east wing. Selected artists will be asked to participate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for one or two weeks. Requests for specific days may be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis after acceptance letters have been delivered.
Crafts Weekend 2014 is held November 28-30 at the Anchorage Museum and is a juried crafts show open to artists who are residents of Alaska. The museum's atrium and selected spaces will provide the backdrop for approximately 45 artists' booths. This event is held in conjunction with the ReadAlaska Book Fair. Artists will be required to be on-site during the entire three-day event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Entries will be juried based on the submission of 4-6 quality digital images that best represent the artist's current work. Digital images must be uploaded with minimum dimensions of 5-by-7-inches at 300 dpi. The jury will select participants based on the following criteria: quality of work, artistic integrity, interesting demonstration of craft, marketability and price levels. All entrants will be emailed a letter of acceptance or non-acceptance by April 12.
