About This Call
The Savage Arts Council invites Minnesota amateur and professional artists to submit original artwork for this juried competition and exhibition. Each artist may submit one or two pieces. Online applications are accepted from February 10 through April 12, 2014. The entry fee is $15 for one piece or $25 for two pieces. Artists will be notified of acceptance by April 19, 2014.
Accepted artwork must be delivered to McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center in Savage on April 24-25, 2014 between 1 pm and 7 pm. The awards reception will be held on April 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm, and the exhibition opens to the public on May 1, 2014 and runs through May 30, 2014. Artwork pickup is scheduled for May 29-30, 2014 from 3 pm to 9 pm. A late fee of $10 per day will be charged for artwork not picked up during the designated time.
Entries are accepted in five categories: Oil, Pastels and Drawing, Photography, Three Dimensional (Sculpture, Pottery and Glass), and Water Media (Watercolor and Acrylic). Total prizes of $1,600 include category awards (1st Prize $100, 2nd Prize $75, 3rd Prize $50, Honorable Mention $25), Best of Show $225, and Community Choice Award $125. Artwork must be original, completed within the last two years, not previously entered in a Savage Arts Council competition, and appropriate for family-friendly public venues. 2D artwork must be framed with sturdy frames and hanging wire, with a maximum size of 40" by 40" or 80" total (H+W). 3D artwork must fit through a standard 32" door with a maximum height of 4 feet and must be displayable on the floor, pedestal, or in a showcase. Artists are responsible for delivering and insuring their accepted artwork. All application fees are nonrefundable.
