About This Call
The Santo Foundation is pleased to announce Pablo Helguera as Distinguished Juror for the 2014 Individual Artist Awards. Three artists will be selected to each receive $5,000. Five additional awards of $1,000 each will also be awarded. Funds are to be used at the artist's discretion with no follow-up material required.
This is an international call open to all artists regardless of country, state, or residency status. Graduate school candidates are eligible as well as emerging, mid-career, and mature artists. All mediums of visual art are eligible including video and performance. Applicants must submit a minimum and maximum of 6 JPEGs of original work and a current resume. No artist statements should be submitted. Video segments are limited to 3 minutes. The application fee is $40.00 US. The call is open from August 15, 2014 through October 31, 2014, with selected artists to be announced in early December 2014.
Pablo Helguera is a New York-based artist working with installation, sculpture, photography, drawing, socially engaged art, and performance. He is currently the Director of Adult and Academic programs at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. He has worked in contemporary art museums since 1991 and was head of public programs at the Education department of the Guggenheim Museum in New York (1998-2005). He is the author of several books including Education for Socially Engaged Art (2011) and Art Scenes: The Social Scripts of the Art World (2012). He has received the Guggenheim, Creative Capital, Franklin Furnace, and Art Matters awards, among others.
