2014 Pacific Northwest Plein Air Exhibition and Competition

The 2014 Pacific Northwest Plein Air Exhibition and Competition invites artists from the United States and Canada to submit work for a juried exhibition. Applicants must submit 5 digital images of plein air artwork and an artist statement through CaFÉ by June 15, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. The entry fee is $40. A screening committee will select 30 artists to participate in the September exhibition based on submitted images. Accepted artwork must have been painted during June-August 2014 in the Columbia River Gorge, with at least 90% completed onsite and outdoors.

Accepted artists are expected to participate in the paint-out event during September 2-4, 2014, with artwork delivered to Columbia Art Gallery by 3 p.m. on September 4th. The exhibition runs September 5-28, 2014. Artists may submit up to four pieces with a combined unframed area not exceeding 1250 square inches, plus one additional piece through the Quick Draw event. Work must be original in concept, professionally framed and wired for hanging, and priced for sale. The gallery receives a 40% commission with 60% going to the artist.

Juror Kathryn Stats will select award winners including 1st Place ($1000), 2nd Place ($750), 3rd Place ($500), 4 Honorable Mentions, and category awards for Best Sky, Best Mountain, Best Water, plus the Bobbie Rosemont Quick Draw Prize ($1000).
