About This Call
GO Places Artist in Residence (AIR) program at Gallery One seeks to create one fully sponsored residency for an artist working in ceramics. Residencies of one to three weeks include flexible studio space and a housing and living stipend of $1,000. Artists from all stages in their careers are invited to apply. This residency is sponsored by the Robert B. McMillen Foundation and the Ellensburg Arts Commission.
Residencies take place during June-October for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of four weeks. The selected artist will receive a monetary stipend of $1,000 for one to three weeks to cover lodging, travel and other amenities, 24-hour access to studio space during residency, and recognition in press releases, advertising, promotional materials, and on the website. The ceramics studio includes three electric kilns, cone 6 glazes, 10 electric wheels, one kick wheel, an extruder, and a slab roller. The artist is responsible for all transportation costs and personal expenses including food during the residency. Gallery One will assist in finding appropriate accommodations. In exchange, the resident will provide two free demonstrations or talks during the residency (with an option to offer a paid workshop for additional income) and provide samples of work made during residency for use in Gallery One's public auction or collection.
The program is open to all professional artists over 18 years of age who work in ceramics. Selection is based solely on merit. Gallery One employees, family of employees, or board members cannot apply. Applications must include up to 10 digital samples of work, a resume detailing relevant work experience, achievements, educational background, shows and exhibits, awards received, and a community service project proposal, 1-3 references, and responses to application questions. Entry fee is $25. Notification will be made by May 31, 2014. Jurors are Julia Galloway and Stephen Robison.
