About This Call
Photography Contest & Exhibition with a focus on promoting greater awareness of the benefits of local farming and locally-grown food. This exhibit is sponsored by Crooked Tree Arts Center and Institute for Sustainable Living, Art & Natural Design (ISLAND).
Photographers may enter up to three submissions in one of five categories: Best Portrait, Best Still Life, Best Farmscape, Best Moment, and Best Impressions of Farming. All photographs must have been taken in Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim, Cheboygan, or Otsego counties in Michigan after December 31, 2012, and must not have been previously exhibited in any of these counties. Work must be dependent primarily on photographic processes. Eligible contestants can submit in one of two age groups: Youth (18 and under) or Adult (over 18). Adult entries require a $10 submission fee; youth entries are free.
Selected artists will be notified after Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Artwork selected for the exhibition must be properly framed, wired, and ready for hanging, with a maximum size of 20" by 16". Framed artwork may be dropped off at Crooked Tree Arts Center between Monday, October 20 at 10:00 a.m. and Monday, October 27 at 12:00 p.m. The exhibition will be displayed at Crooked Tree Arts Center in the Atrium Gallery from Friday, October 31, 2014 through Saturday, December 6, 2014. There will be a total of ten awards: five in the youth category and five in the adult category. Award winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, held at the Carnegie Library Building, 451 E. Mitchell Street, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Crooked Tree Arts Center will retain a 40% commission on any work sold from the exhibition. Works will be insured while on the Arts Center premises up to 60% of retail value; works in transit will not be covered. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping of work.
