About This Call
2014 Enchanted Lands: Celebrating NM Public Lands is a juried competition of plein air artworks painted onsite at New Mexico's public lands, co-sponsored with the Albuquerque Open Space Visitor Center. The exhibition runs September 6 – October 26, 2014 at Open Space Visitor Center Gallery, 6500 Coors NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87120. The opening reception is Saturday, September 6, 3-5 pm. Gallery hours are 9-5, Tuesday through Sunday.
Eligibility is open to all current PAPNM members working in two-dimensional media excluding photography and digital art. Artists may submit 1 to 3 images of original work. All work must be at least 80% completed en plein air during 2012, 2013, or 2014, and must be done in one of New Mexico's public lands (national, state, county, city, BLM, Open Space, parks, monuments, wildlife areas, refuges, national forests, or other public lands). Work done under instructor guidance is not eligible. Maximum framed size is 22 inches in any dimension. The entry fee is $50.00 (non-refundable), with payment due by July 31, 2014. Digital submissions must be JPEG only, at least 1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 DPI, and 3 MB maximum per image.
Over $2,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded including a "Best of Show" plus special awards in various categories. Jurors of Selection are Margie Lucena and Joshua Willis. The Judge of Awards is Richard Prather. Jury results notification will be by email on August 22, 2014. Only juried artworks will be accepted for exhibition. All accepted work must be for sale, with artists receiving 60% of the sales price. Work must be sturdily framed and ready to hang with D-rings and wrapped wire. Artwork delivery is September 3, 2014. Artists may pick up unsold work or return by pre-paid shipment on October 28, 2014. PAPNM membership is $30 annually and required to enter.
