About This Call

This call for art is open to artists 18 years of age and older. Artists living and working within the COCC College district boundaries, COCC students, and staff will be given preference. Applicants who have been selected for exhibition at any COCC College location within the last two years are not eligible to apply. At this time, installation, 3D, and performance art cannot be considered. Submissions should include 3-10 images of work samples.

The exhibition will be held in the Health Careers Center First Floor Gallery. Selected artists must deliver and install work the week starting March 23, 2015, with installation complete no later than 3:00 p.m. PST on Thursday, March 26, 2015. The exhibition will run from March 27 to June 12, 2015, with a reception hosted by the College during the first weeks of spring term. All sites are provided as-is; exhibitors should review lighting prior to submission. Buildings are open to the public per class schedule requirements and are not staffed with security, though security staff makes periodic passes through each building.

Accepted entries must have an identification label fixed to the back of the artwork prior to installation, including artist name, address, phone number, artwork title, medium, and sale price. The College will provide insurance coverage during the exhibition period and a $300 stipend upon successful completion of exhibition and removal of work. The College does not reimburse transportation or installation expenses. Artists retain copyright to their work. All sales are handled privately between artist and buyer, with no commission taken by the College. The Art Committee will appoint a review group to evaluate submissions based on artistic merit, regional importance, innovation, professionalism, artist statement, relevance to the Art Committee charge, and appropriateness to the public exhibition space. Artists will be notified approximately six weeks after the application deadline. Selected artists will be notified by December 17, 2015.
