About This Call

Belle Meade Plantation, a non-profit chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities, invites artists to participate in the 2014 Juried Art Show. The show is open to artists 15 years of age and older living in Tennessee or bordering states (Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, or Virginia). Artists must create paintings or sculptures on the subjects of the landscape, people, architecture, and equestrian legacy of Belle Meade Plantation. Accepted works will be on display during November and December 2014. Fifty percent of the proceeds from works sold will be donated to Belle Meade Plantation's mission and preservation efforts.

Works must be original, completed within the last two years, and available for sale. Two-dimensional works may measure no more than 20 x 20" unframed; sculptural works may measure no more than 15 x 10 x 10". Works may be any medium. Abstract and non-representational works are welcome if themed on one of four subjects: the landscape and architecture of Belle Meade Plantation, equestrian-related activities, the people of Belle Meade Plantation (past and present), or wine-related subjects. Works previously shown at Belle Meade Plantation or completed under the supervision of another artist/instructor will not be accepted.

Artists may enter up to three works for a submission fee of $20 per entry, or $50 flat rate for three pieces. Submission deadline is September 29, 2014. Accepted artists will be notified by October 10, 2014. Artwork must be delivered October 24-27, 2014. Show awards include Best of Show ($300 cash prize, one-month exhibition, gift certificates, and one-year membership), Honorable Mention awards, Notable Emerging Artist award (for artists age 15-21), and Notable Equestrian Work award. An Artists' Workshop will be held November 6, 2014 (cost $60). The exhibition runs November 6 - December 26, 2014. Unsold artwork must be picked up by January 9, 2015, and payment for sold works will be distributed January 30, 2015.
