About This Call
Open to visual artists who live within Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) boundaries. Artists may submit up to six works for consideration. All 2D medias are acceptable, including photography, watercolor, oils, acrylics, prints, drawings, collage, and digital art. Artists should consider submitting work reflective of the seasons represented with each Activities Guide. For the winter-spring guide, priority will be given to participants whose artwork incorporates both seasons within a single image. Activities Guides are portrait-oriented and measure 8"w x 11"h.
THPRD releases three activities guides yearly: winter/spring, summer, and fall. These guides list all programs, events and activities the Park District offers each term and are widely used. Activities guides are available online at thprd.org and in print at all THPRD facilities and certain community sites, including the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce, Beaverton City Hall, and all libraries in the Beaverton area. The summer activities guide is mailed to 120,000 households throughout the Tualatin Hills district.
There is no entry fee. Artists of selected images will not be compensated but will receive recognition on the inside front cover of the appropriate activities guide. The selection panel expects to select at least three images (one for the cover of each seasonal guide). The selection panel may decide to accept more than three cover images to be used for later editions of the guide. Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance is anticipated the week of August 12, 2013. The first activities guide to feature a contest winner's artwork on the cover will be the winter-spring book, scheduled for distribution to the public in November 2013.
