About This Call

The South Florida Cultural Consortium is a partnership among the local arts agencies of Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties. The Consortium's Fellowship program is intended to nurture the artistic development of eligible visual and media artists who reside in one of these counties. Fellowships are not project-based; recipients may use the Fellowships according to their individual needs.

Fellowships of $15,000 and $7,500 are awarded to selected visual and media artists from the five participating counties. No more than two fellowships of $7,500 may be awarded in each county. All emerging, mid-career and established South Florida professional artists residing in Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe or Palm Beach counties are eligible to apply. Applicants must be over 18 years of age and must have resided and worked in one of the participating counties from October 31, 2011 to October 31, 2012. Proof of residency is required and may include property tax records, lease agreements, voter registration, or IRS income tax returns. Artists engaging in art work as a hobby, employees of participating County governments or member local arts agencies, or non-professional student artists pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees are not eligible.

Applications must be submitted online via CAFÉ by October 31, 2012 at midnight. Visual artists must submit ten digital images presenting an overview of their work, a resume, a statement about their work, and optionally up to two support materials. Media artists must submit a video file (not exceeding 100 MB and 10 minutes in length), a resume, a statement about their work, and optionally up to two support materials. All work samples must have been completed within three years prior to the application date. Submissions are reviewed anonymously by regional panels of visual and media arts experts, with recommendations forwarded to a national panel. Regional and national judging will take place in January/February 2013, with recipients announced in spring 2013 and awards presented in summer 2013.
