2013 Savage Juried Art Competition and Show

The Savage Arts Council presents the Seventh Annual Savage Juried Art Competition and Show, inviting all professional and amateur artists in Minnesota to apply to compete and exhibit their works. This juried competition celebrates visual arts created in Minnesota, with the show open to the public May 1-30, 2013. Total prizes of $1,225 will be awarded, including $100 for first place in each category, $50 for second place, $25 for third place, $225 for Best in Show, and $125 for the Marion W. Savage People's Choice Award.

Entries of original artwork are accepted in five categories: Oil, Pastels and Drawing, Photography, Three Dimensional (Sculpture, Pottery and Glass), and Water Media (Watercolor and Acrylic). Each artist may submit one or two pieces. Artwork must be original, completed within the last two years, and not previously entered in a Savage Arts Council competition. The application deadline is April 12, 2013, with online applications only. Entry fee is $15 for one piece or $25 for two pieces. Artists will be notified of acceptance on April 19, 2013. Accepted artwork must be delivered in person to McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center, 13550 Dakota Avenue South, Savage, MN 55378 on April 26, 2013 between 9am-7pm. An awards reception will be held at McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center on April 28, 2013 at 2:00pm. Artwork will be displayed at participating community locations including Sterling Bank, Cal's Market, Klein Bank, Savage Public Library, and Savage City Hall. Pickup of artwork is May 30-31, 2013 between 3-9pm.

2D artwork must be framed with sturdy frames and hanging wire mounted one-third down from the top. Maximum exterior frame size is 40" by 40" or 80" total (HxW). Frames exceeding 53" total must use Plexiglas. 3D artwork must fit through a standard door with maximum height of 4 feet and must be displayable on the floor, pedestal, or in a showcase.
