About This Call
The South Florida Cultural Consortium, a partnership among the local arts agencies of Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach Counties, offers Fellowships to nurture the artistic development of eligible visual and media artists who reside in one of these counties. Fellowships are not project-based; recipients may use the Fellowships according to their individual needs.
Fellowships of $15,000 and $7,500 are awarded to selected visual and media artists. No more than two fellowships of $7,500 may be awarded in each county. All emerging, mid-career and established South Florida professional artists residing in Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe or Palm Beach Counties are eligible to apply. Applicants must be over 18 years of age and must have resided and worked in one of the participating five counties from October 3, 2010 to October 3, 2011. Proof of residency is required and may include property tax records, lease agreements, voter registration, or IRS income tax returns. Artists engaging in art work as a hobby, employees of participating County governments or member local arts agencies, or non-professional student artists pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees are not eligible.
Submissions are judged on degree of artistic excellence, evidence of an established and recognized body of work over a sustained period of time, and consistency in the submitted body of work. All work samples must have been completed within the last three years prior to the application date. Visual artists must submit ten digital images, a resume, a statement about their work, and optionally up to two support materials. Media artists must submit a video file (not exceeding 100 MB and 10 minutes in length), a resume, a statement about their work, and optionally up to two support materials. Applications must be submitted online via CAFÉ by October 3, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. There is no application fee. Regional judging will take place in January/February 2012, with recipients announced in spring 2012 and awards presented in summer 2012. For questions about eligibility and requirements, contact Brandi Reddick at [email protected] or 305.375.5436.
