About This Call
Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF) is conducting an open entry competition to select six sculptures valued at no more than $25,000 each for Northglenn's "Art on Parade" on-loan sculpture program. The selected pieces will be installed for one year at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park surrounding Webster Lake in Northglenn, Colorado, with placement beginning in late May 2012 and remaining on display until May 2013.
Each of the six finalists will receive a $600 honorarium. An additional $1,000 will be awarded to the artist who receives the annual "People's Choice Award." Since the program's inception in 2001, the NAHF has purchased each of the People's Choice winning sculptures. All pieces must be for sale. Submitted sculptures must be garden-sized or larger (at least three feet in one dimension recommended) and ready for outdoor installation. Pieces must be capable of being welded to a 1/4" steel plate or mounted using a system with no less than 3/8" bolts (minimum three-point bolting system required). Any durable outdoor medium is acceptable, but no hanging sculptures, wooden sculptures, or water features are permitted. Edition sizes over 50 will not be accepted.
Submit three images of one sculpture: two clearly showing front and back, and one showing detail with scale indicated. Multiple sculpture submissions are allowed; if submitting more than one, the highest scoring sculpture will be considered. The six sculptures chosen must represent six different artists. A committee of local citizens, businesses, and NAHF members will select the sculptures. Insurance will be provided by the City of Northglenn. For additional information, contact Director Michael Stricker at (303) 450-8727 or [email protected].
