About This Call
Sculpture artists from across the nation are invited to participate in the 2011 Cary Visual Art Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition, running from August 5, 2011 through June 22, 2012. Organized and presented by Cary Visual Art with the support of the Town of Cary, this exhibition offers established and emerging artists the opportunity to display their sculptures throughout downtown Cary, North Carolina. The entry fee is $25.00 per submission, with no limit on the number of sculptures an artist may submit (a $25 fee is required for every two different sculptures submitted).
Ten finalists will be selected for installation on the Town Hall Campus and throughout downtown Cary. Each finalist whose work is installed will receive a $1,000 honorarium to offset transportation and incidental expenses. The juror, Jack Becker (founder and executive director of Forecast Public Art), will select the ten finalists and award the Best in Show prize of $5,000. Honoraria checks will be mailed within one week after installation. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and reside in the U.S. Work samples should include 1-2 images submitted through CallForEntry.org.
Selected sculptures must be suitable for outdoor installation and capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions. Artists are responsible for delivery to and from Cary and for securing installation of their sculptures. Installation takes place on Friday, August 5, 2011, with an opening reception that evening. De-installation must occur between June 22-29, 2012. Cary Visual Art advises all artists to insure their artwork, as neither Cary Visual Art nor the Town of Cary insures outdoor works. All sculptures sold during or within 90 days after the exhibition will be assessed a 30% commission by Cary Visual Art, Inc. Notification of acceptance will be provided on or before June 17, 2011.
