About This Call
Public Art Cherry Creek (PACC) is an open competition for professional artists residing in Colorado. The Cherry Creek Arts Festival Organization seeks site-specific artwork for a planter box at 252 Steele Street, Denver, CO 80206 (location subject to change within Cherry Creek North). The artwork should fit within approximately 10.5' x 9' and contribute to the visual character of the community while enhancing social public spaces through urban design.
The budget for this commission is approximately $20,000, inclusive of all costs including design fees, structural engineering, insurance, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation, and contingency. Selected artwork must be structurally sound with engineering approval, cannot interfere with pedestrian movement or safety, and must withstand Colorado's weather conditions. All materials must be durable and require minimal maintenance. Artists working in any media are eligible. Applications may be submitted individually or as a team.
Applicants must submit five digital images of previously completed artworks, a statement of interest (2000 character maximum), and a one- to two-page résumé via the CaFÉ system. For kinetic, sound, or media works, submit a DVD or VHS tape of no more than five minutes to: Public Art in Cherry Creek (PACC), Tara Brickell, 2 Steele Street, B-100, Denver, CO 80206. Entry fee is $25. The selection panel will choose one to four semi-finalists who will prepare detailed proposals and present in person. Semi-finalists receive an honorarium to cover proposal preparation and presentation costs. Contact: [email protected] or (303) 355-2787.
