2010 Year in Review

Americans for the Arts Public Art Network (PAN) announces the Call for Submissions for the 2010 Year in Review. Submitted public art projects will be reviewed and selected by curators Fred Wilson and Helen Lessick. Since 2000, the Public Art Network Year in Review has annually recognized outstanding public art projects through an open call submission and curation selection process. The Year in Review program is the only national award that specifically recognizes public art projects. Both temporary and permanent public art is eligible.

Submitted public art projects must have been completed in calendar year 2009. Each application must include six digital images of the completed public art project (one image per JPEG file), a project description of no more than 150 words, artist name(s), commissioning entity and contact information, project title, location, materials, and budget. For kinetic, new media, or video-based art, DVDs may be submitted by mail to accompany applications. Two DVDs must be labeled with full project information and sent to: Americans for the Arts, Public Art Program Manager, 1000 Vermont Ave NW 6th Fl., Washington, DC 20005 by March 26, 2010.

Projects selected by the reviewers will be presented at the national Americans for the Arts Public Art Preconference 'Redefining the Public Paradigm' in Baltimore, June 23-25, 2010. Following selection, the Year in Review projects are compiled on CD and provide an educational tool for communities developing and advocating for public art programs and projects. The 2010 Year in Review CD will be available at the conference and in the Americans for the Arts bookstore. Submission opens February 26, 2010 and closes March 26, 2010 at midnight Mountain Time.
