About This Call

The Tennessee Association of Craft Artists (TACA) seeks entries for its biennial exhibition, The Best of Tennessee Craft, to encourage and promote a high standard of excellence and design among Tennessee craft artists and to provide public visibility and recognition for the quality and diversity of crafts found in Tennessee.

The exhibition is open to original works in any of the generally accepted craft media, including clay, fiber, glass, wood, metals, leather, handmade paper, mixed media, printmaking, and photography. Artists may submit up to three pieces for jurying, with each piece represented by one image. The competition is open to all craft artists, 18 years or older, who are current residents of Tennessee, including students. Work must be original, completed since January 2008, not previously exhibited at a TACA Biennial, and within the generally accepted craft categories. Printmaking and photography are acceptable; paintings and drawings will not be accepted. Entry fee is $35 ($30 for TACA members) for up to three works.

The 2010 biennial exhibition will be hosted in the Todd Art Gallery on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, from September 27 through October 15, 2010. A public reception will be held the evening of Saturday, October 2. A panel of three jurors will select works from submitted digital images. Jurors will select works to receive cash awards, including a $500 Best of Show. All entry forms must be electronically submitted no later than midnight August 16, 2010. Selected work must be received at the Todd Art Gallery between September 20-24, 2010. Artists are responsible for transportation of their work to the gallery and for all shipping costs. Unsold work will be shipped COD via FedEx to the address listed on the entry form no later than November 1, 2010.
