About This Call
The South Florida Cultural Consortium, a partnership among the local arts agencies of Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach Counties, offers fellowships to nurture the artistic development of eligible visual and media artists who reside in one of these counties. Fellowships are not project-based; recipients may use the fellowships according to their individual needs.
Fellowships of $15,000 and $7,500 are awarded to selected visual and media artists. No more than two fellowships of $7,500 may be awarded in each county. All emerging, mid-career and established South Florida professional artists residing in Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe or Palm Beach Counties are eligible to apply. Applicants must be over 18 years of age and must have resided and worked in one of the participating five counties from October 1, 2008 to October 1, 2009. The Consortium defines a professional artist as a person who has created a recognized body of original works of art within an artistic discipline over a sustained period of time, and who is striving to achieve the highest level of professional recognition. You are not eligible if you are engaging in art work as a hobby, an employee of the participating County governments or of the South Florida Cultural Consortium's member local arts agencies, or a non-professional student artist pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Applications must be received no later than midnight, Friday, January 29, 2010. Visual artists must submit ten digital images presenting an overview of their work, title, dimensions, medium and date of each work, a resume, a statement about their work, and no more than 2 support materials in .pdf or MS Word format. Media artists must submit ten still images representing the visual component of the work, title and date of media work, a resume, a statement about their work, and no more than 2 support materials. Media artists must also send a DVD to be received no later than January 29, 2010 with a maximum length of 10 minutes total and no more than three multiple work samples. All samples of work submitted for review must have been completed within the last three years prior to the application date. Submissions will be judged by degree of artistic excellence, evidence of an established and recognized body of work over a sustained period of time, and consistency in the submitted body of work. Proof of residency is required and may include a current State of Florida driver's license, voter's registration, or an IRS income tax return for 2008. There is no application fee.
