About This Call

The 2010 Pacific Northwest Plein Air Landscape Painting Exhibition invites artists to submit work for consideration. Any resident of the United States and Canada is eligible to apply. Upon acceptance, artwork must have been painted on location (in Plein Air) in the last two years in the Pacific Northwest: British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, or Montana. At least 85% of the painting must be completed onsite and outdoors to be considered "Plein Air."

Applicants must submit 6 digital images and an artist statement through CaFÉ. The entry fee is $25. All applications must be submitted by midnight (Mountain Time) on June 30, 2010. Approximately 30 artists will be selected based on the Plein Air images they submit. Selected artists will be featured in the September exhibition and are encouraged to participate in a Paintout event during the week prior to the show opening. Notification of screening results will be sent electronically by July 15.

Fine art media accepted: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastel. Artwork including frames shall not exceed 50 inches in either direction, with minimum image size 2" x 3". Artwork must be professionally framed, wired and ready for hanging, or presented unframed with at least 1.5" thick canvas or wood edge finished professionally. All work must be original in concept and executed by the artist within the last two years. No student work under supervision is eligible. No work previously featured in the Columbia Gorge Region will be accepted. Artists may deliver up to 6 pieces; at least 4 pieces will be shown by each accepted artist. Work must be FOR SALE and priced with intent to sell. The gallery takes a 40% commission; artists receive 60%. Awards include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place, as well as Artists Choice and People's Choice awards. The exhibition opens September 3 and closes September 26. All hand-delivered artwork must be delivered to Columbia Art Gallery, 215 Cascade Street, Hood River, OR 97031 by Monday, August 30 between noon and 5:00 pm.
