About This Call

The Napa ARTwalk program invites artists to exhibit their art in downtown Napa on a temporary basis. Ten locations situated along two primary pedestrian corridors in downtown Napa have been selected for artwork placement, all within walking distance of one another along main pedestrian walkways, plazas and a park. Five sites are in close proximity to the river or creek, and five are on a major shopping and dining corridor.

Artists may submit up to 3 artworks with 2 views each, for a total of 6 images maximum. Each submitted artwork will be proposed for either a "large" pad (18" high x 60" long x 60" wide) or a "medium" pad (18" high x 48" long x 48" wide). Artworks must weigh no more than 4400 pounds and must be able to securely attach to the concrete pads. Any projections beyond the width of the concrete pad must occur at higher than 7 feet from the ground. Submission requirements include an image list with title, date, medium, dimensions, weight, fair-market value, proposed pad size, and maintenance requirements; a short description (up to 5 sentences per artwork); an installation plan specifying weight and method of attachment; and an artist resume.

Artworks will remain on view for approximately eleven months from June 26, 2010 to May 27, 2011. Exhibition hours are daily between sunrise and sunset. Community members and visitors may vote to select one artwork for a People's Choice Award, to be presented in spring 2011. The winner receives a complementary weekend getaway in Napa. Each participating artist will receive an Artist Honorarium of $1,000.00 ($500.00 upon artwork delivery and $500.00 upon artwork pick-up). The program sponsor will collect a 10% commission on all sales resulting from the exhibit. Sold artworks must remain on site for the remainder of the exhibition. The 2010 theme is "Celebrating the Napa River."
