2009 Year in Review

Americans for the Arts Public Art Network (PAN), in partnership with the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF), announces the Call for Submissions for the 2009 Year in Review. Submitted public art projects will be reviewed and selected by curators Janet Echelman and Mildred Howard. Since 2001, the Public Art Network's Year in Review award has annually recognized outstanding public art projects through an open call submission and curation selection process. This is the only national award that specifically recognizes public art projects.

Submitted public art projects must have been completed in calendar year 2008. Each application must include six digital images of the completed public art project (one image per JPEG file), a project description of no more than 300 words, artist name(s), commissioning agency and contact information, project title, location, materials, budget, and month completed. No slides or hard copy materials will be accepted. Applicants must submit applications via the CaFÉ web site at http://www.callforentry.org/. There are no limits to the number of projects applicants may submit; however, a separate CaFÉ profile and application is required for each project. The application fee has been eliminated.

Projects selected by the reviewers will be presented at the annual national Americans for the Arts conference "Renewable Resources, Arts in Sustainable Communities," held in Seattle, June 18-20, 2009. Following selection, the Year in Review projects are compiled on CD and provide an educational tool for communities developing and advocating for public art programs.
