2008 National Juried Photography Show

The 2008 National Juried Photography Show is held at the Louisville Center for the Arts, located at 801 Grant Street in Memory Square Park, Louisville, Colorado. The show runs from June 28 through July 6, 2008, with an opening reception on June 28 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The July 4th Celebration draws thousands of visitors to Louisville, with live entertainment, arts and craft booths, food and games at the Louisville City Park.

Competition is open to everyone over 18 years of age. All work must be original and executed in a professional manner, with all photo editing completed by the contestant. Entries must be submitted in one of seven categories: Color (People & Animals, Landscapes & Architecture, Still Life/Floral/Abstract), Black & White (People & Animals, Landscapes & Architecture, Still Life/Floral/Abstract), Digital Creative or Heavy Interpretive Manipulations, or Theme (this year's theme is Staged Fantasy). Accepted work must be properly framed, wired and ready to hang with no sawtooth hangers or exposed glass edges. Work selected for final judging must meet community standards and be displayed in a public place.

Entry fees are $30 for 1-3 images and $10 for each additional image, with a maximum of 10 entries. All entry fees are non-refundable. Submissions must include 3-10 images. The judge is Mark Sink, a private art consultant and founder of Month of Photography in Denver. Prize awards include Best of Show ($1,000), Judge's Award ($100), People's Choice ($100), Merit awards ($50 each, 8 total), Best of Category ($100 each, 8 total), and Second Place ($75 each, 8 total). A 25% commission is charged on all work sold. Mail-in entry deadline is April 30; online entry deadline is May 10. Acceptance notifications are sent May 17. Shipped work must be delivered June 16-20; hand-delivered work must arrive June 25. All work must be picked up by July 6 as there is no storage available beyond that date.
