About This Call
This competition, hosted by the Mayer Museum at Angelo State University, is open to undergraduate and graduate students in the U.S. currently working in ceramics as a primary medium. The exhibition is part of the 2026 San Angelo Ceramics Symposium, sponsored by the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. In the last competition, 20 works were displayed.
Eligibility: Any undergraduate or graduate student attending a college or university in the U.S., age 18 or older and a U.S. resident, may participate. All works must have been completed within the last two years. Students must be enrolled at a university and use their academic email to apply. Original artwork including ceramics or multi-media may be submitted. All three-dimensional works must be stable and either free-standing or hung on the wall. There is no size limit. Up to 2 entries may be submitted, with a maximum of 2 digital images per artwork (or 1 video file in lieu of a second photo). All images must be in JPEG format at high resolution (at least 300 dpi). Entry fee is $20.00.
Awards: Mayer Rising Artist Award - $100; Best Sculptural Award - $50; Best Vessel Award - $50. Accepted work must arrive by March 27, 2026. The exhibition opens April 15, 2026, and closes September 19, 2026. Jurors are Steve Hilton and Von Venhuizen. The Museum will insure work while at the Museum; artists are responsible for insuring works in transit and return shipping costs. Contact: Shaydee Watson, [email protected], 325-942-2785.
