About This Call
The Transparent Watercolor Society of America is hosting the 1st Annual Student Watercolor Exhibition, offering $1000+ in cash and merchandise awards. The exhibition is open to students ages 17-30. Award winners may be invited to a prestigious National Exhibition.
Submissions must be transparent watercolor applied in a transparent manner on single sheet of 100% rag or cotton paper, free of pigment and embedded materials. Planning marks in pencil only are permitted. Framed size cannot exceed 50" in either direction, with a minimum mat opening size of 8"x10". Unacceptable entries include white paint, gesso, priming, acrylic, gouache, ink, pastel, metallic or iridescent paint, collage, surface constructions, embossing, varnishing, Yupo or unsuitable papers, and digital images or enhancements. Applicants may submit up to two paintings.
Digital image files must be submitted as JPEG only, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, at 72 ppi/dpi resolution, with a maximum file size of 3 MB. Entry fee is $10.00. Jurors are Signature/Master status members of TWSA. A 35% commission is charged by the museum for paintings sold if invited to exhibit. Fees are non-refundable. By submitting an application, applicants grant TWSA permission to reproduce accepted images for the annual catalog and DVD and to publicize future exhibitions via newspaper, magazines, mailings, and internet.
