1st Annual Dirty South Mug Competition

The 2015 Dirty South Mug Competition is a national, juried exhibition. Up to 125 artists will be chosen to display traditional or non-traditional ceramic mugs at River Oaks Square Arts Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. The competition is open to all artists working in clay and residing in the United States. Both functional and non-functional, traditional and non-traditional pieces are accepted.

Entry fee is $25 per artist for up to three entries. Work may not be larger than 10" x 10" x 10" and must be for sale, with no single work exceeding $500 in value. Artists will pay a 30% commission to the Gallery on all sales. All work must be shipped to the Gallery with return postage labels included; return shipping will be covered by ROSAC. Weight limit is 15 lbs. Digital entries only in JPEG format at 300 dpi and no more than 2100 pixels at the longest dimension. Files must be labeled with artist's first initial and last name followed by entry number. Works will be insured for 50% of stated value from delivery through the end of the exhibition.

Juror is Tom Coleman, a renowned potter with over fifty years of experience. Awards include First Prize of $500 and four Juror's Choice awards of $125 each. The top 20 artists will be considered for "exhibiting artist" designation in future invitational shows hosted by ROSAC. Exhibit dates are April 7 - May 23, 2015. Acceptance notification will be sent January 21, 2015. Work delivery deadline is March 25, 2015 by 5pm, with artwork returned June 17, 2015. A workshop and classes with Tom Coleman will be held April 21-24, with an exhibit reception and juror remarks on April 24th from 5-8 p.m.
