About This Call
Axis Gallery invites submissions to its 19th National Juried Exhibition, juried by Kelly Lindner, Art Galleries and Collections Curator for the University Galleries at Sacramento State University. Accepted artworks will be displayed at the gallery in downtown Sacramento from August 2–September 1, 2024, with a reception on the evening of August 10.
The exhibition is open to all artists residing in the U.S. Submissions may include contemporary original 2D and 3D work in any medium including painting, print, drawings, video, photography, or digital images. All work must be original, produced within the last two years, and not previously shown at Axis Gallery. 2D work should not exceed 48" in the longest dimension when framed. 3D work is limited to 36" and not more than 60 lbs. Video work must be 5 minutes or shorter (displayed on a 60" monitor) or artists may provide and install their own equipment (monitors no larger than 30" diagonal). If audio is integral to the work, headphones must be provided for viewers. Work with complex installations will be included at the discretion of the juror and gallery.
Entry fee is $40 for three images/videos, with additional entries at $10 each (limit 6 total submissions). Submissions may include up to 6 images and 3 videos, with a minimum of 3 total samples required. Selected artists will be notified in mid-June. Gallery-ready artwork must be received by July 28, 2024. All 2D work must be framed or mounted and ready to hang; sawtooth hangers are not permitted. The gallery will provide pedestals and plinths for 3D works. Work will be insured while at Axis Gallery but not during transit. The gallery retains 40% commission on any work sold. Unsold artworks will be returned after the exhibition closes. Cash awards and a printed exhibition catalog will be provided.
