About This Call
The 19th Annual Sculpture Garden exhibit at the Kemp Center For The Arts in Wichita Falls, Texas is now open for entries. All forms of outdoor sculpture will be considered, provided it meets the requirements of the prospectus. The juror for this event is Chad Plunket, Director of the Charles Adams Studio Project in Lubbock, Texas.
Sculptures will be on display for 12 months from installation in May 2023 and must remain on display for the entirety of the exhibit. Artists will be provided with an installation stipend totaling $1,500 ($750 on completed installation and $750 on completed deinstallation). Three cash awards will be given: 1st prize ($2,500), 2nd prize ($1,000), and 3rd prize ($500), announced at the opening reception with award money distributed within 30 days. Artists are expected to attend the opening reception on May 13, 2023, and will be provided with one hotel room for up to two nights. Artists will be notified of their pick-up date and time no less than 30 days prior to removal.
Sculpture should be garden-sized or larger (at least 3 feet in one dimension is recommended). Acceptable media includes metal, stone, ceramic, or any other durable material that will withstand the elements and outdoor display. Pieces must have the capacity to be attached to ¼" steel plate for installation. Artwork will be placed on a steel plate on soft ground with no concrete installation areas available. Placement throughout the site will be at the sole discretion of the contracted installer and Arts Council WF staff. Artists are responsible for delivery and pick-up of all artwork at their own expense. Artwork does not need to be for sale to be exhibited. If artwork is listed for sale, The Arts Council WF will receive a 30% commission on all sales and will collect and process the appropriate sales tax. The Arts Council WF will not provide transportation for sold items. Entry fee is $25.00. Submit up to three pieces in completed state (no proposal drawings). Minimum one image required; up to three images and three videos may be submitted (maximum six total samples).
