19th Annual National Juried Competition - Works on Paper 2017

The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences presents the 19th Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition "Works on Paper 2017" at Long Beach Island, New Jersey. This competition welcomes original works created within the last two years that explore varied media utilizing paper, including drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photographic prints, digital pieces displayed as prints, and paper constructions that may be wall hung. The competition is open to artists 18 years and older residing in the continental USA. Works must not have been previously exhibited at LBIF.

The juror is Jane Panetta, Associate Curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. Three cash prizes will be awarded: $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize, plus three honorable mentions. Prizes will be announced at the opening reception on Sunday, June 18, 5-7 pm. The exhibition runs June 2-26, 2017.

Two-dimensional works should not exceed 60 inches in width and 72 inches in height, and not exceed 15 lbs. Work may not project beyond 18 inches in the third dimension. All submitted work must be suitably framed, firmly wired, prepared for hanging, and professionally presented under acrylic or Plexiglass. All works must be available for the duration of the exhibition and are required to be for sale; LBIF retains a 40% commission on all works sold. Entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 entries (non-refundable). Accepted entries will be notified by email by May 15, with work due at LBIF by May 26. Work will be returned to artists by July 5, 2017.
