About This Call
Open to living artists 18 years or older, regardless of geographic location. Artists may submit a digital image of one or two different original artworks, but only one piece per artist may appear in the exhibition. Entry fee is $35 for nonmembers; CPSA members receive a 28% discount with discount code. Entries must be submitted according to instructions on the CaFÉ website.
Medium must be 100% colored pencil. Acceptable additions include solvents and graphite pencil used under, between, or over layers. Artwork must be 2-dimensional on a single surface with no collage or montage. Work must have been completed after March 31, 2008 and not previously hung in any CPSA exhibition. Concept, design, and execution must be solely that of the artist; no work copied from copyrighted or published materials, no images produced by drawing over digital reproductions, no prints, and no collaborations. Framed size cannot exceed 32x40 inches. Mats must be white, off-white, tan, gray, or black; frames should be simple in design. Artwork must be ready to hang by wire with no sawtooth hangers; plexiglas only, no glass or clip-on frames.
Selection involves two steps: juror selection based on artistic merit, followed by final review upon receipt of shipped work to verify specifications are met. Accepted artists are responsible for all shipping expenses plus a $45 cartage fee. Artwork may be priced for sale or not for sale; the Eisemann Center charges a 30% commission on sales. Numerous monetary awards and the CIPPY Best of Show award are presented annually; last year cash awards totaled over $14,000. CPSA members may earn Signature status by having their art appear in three CPSA International Exhibitions within 10 years. No notifications of acceptance are sent; artists must check the CPSA website to learn of acceptance and obtain shipping instructions.
