1966: Remixed Exhibition

Crooked Tree Arts Center will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cornwell addition of the former Traverse City Library, now the CTAC-Traverse City gallery. Designed by Gordon Cornwell, the building features architecture indicative of the 1960s era, with its use of glass, pattern, and striking angles. The summer exhibition, 1966: Remixed, is a multimedia collection of new pieces inspired by the trends, fashions, and events of that era.

1966: Remixed is a juried exhibition with $1,000 prize for first place, $500 for second, and $250 for third. The exhibition runs June 9, 2016 - September 3, 2016. Artists and artisans are invited to submit proposals for new pieces or images of pieces created within the past three years that have not previously been exhibited. The exhibition welcomes 2-D art in all media (including photography and graphic design), 3-D sculpture and functional objects, furniture, fashion, jewelry, textiles, multimedia, and installation.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and reside in Michigan. All work must be original and properly prepared for display. All artwork must be available for sale; Crooked Tree Arts Center will retain a 40% commission on any work sold from the exhibition. Submissions are due by February 1, 2016. Entry fee is $20.00 for Crooked Tree members and $40.00 for non-members. You may submit up to three pieces or proposed pieces for consideration. Digital images must be submitted in JPEG format with a resolution no less than 72 dpi and at least 1950 pixels in any direction. Artists will be notified of acceptance status by email by February 21, 2016. Pieces must be delivered to Crooked Tree Arts Center-Traverse City between May 23, 2016 and June 4, 2016. Pieces will be picked up or shipped back between September 6 and September 10, 2016.
