18th Annual National Juried Competition - Works on Paper 2016

The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences invites entries for the 18th annual National Juried Competition "Works on Paper 2016." This exhibition is open to artists 18 years and older residing in the continental USA. Works on Paper can include drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photography, digital pieces displayed as prints, photographic prints, and paper constructions that are wall hung. Entries must have been created within the last two years and not previously shown at LBIF.

Two-dimensional works should not exceed 60 inches in width and 72 inches in height, and not exceed 15 lbs. Work may not project beyond 18 inches in the third dimension. All submitted work must be suitably framed, firmly wired, prepared for hanging, and professionally presented. All paper must be displayed framed and protected under acrylic (Plexiglass). Submitted work must be available for the duration of the exhibition, and all works must be for sale. LBIF will retain a 40% commission on all works sold during the exhibition.

The juror is Carter E. Foster, Steven and Ann Ames Curator of Drawing at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Awards include $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize, and two honorable mentions. The exhibition runs July 1-20, 2016, with an opening reception and awards presentation on Saturday, July 9, 5-7 pm. Entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 entries (non-refundable). Accepted entries will be notified by email by May 31, and work must be received by June 22. Work will be returned by August 30, 2016. Works will be insured for 60% of the artist's stated retail value during the exhibition.
