About This Call
Open to living artists 18 years or older, regardless of geographic location. Artists may submit a digital image of one or two different original artworks, but only one piece per artist may appear in the exhibition. Entry fee is $35 for nonmembers; CPSA members receive a 28% discount with discount code. Deadline for entries is 11:59pm Mountain Time, March 31, 2010.
Medium must be 100% colored pencil. Acceptable additions include solvents (e.g., turpentine) and graphite pencil used under/between/over layers. Artwork must be 2-dimensional on a single surface with no collage or montage. Artwork must have been completed after March 31, 2007 and not previously hung in any CPSA exhibition. Concept, design and execution must be solely that of the artist; no work copied from copyrighted or published materials, no images produced by drawing over digital reproductions, no prints, and no collaborations. Framed size cannot exceed 32x40 inches. Mats must be white, off-white, tan, gray or black; frames should be simple in design. Artwork must be ready to hang by wire with no sawtooth hangers; plexiglas only, no glass or clip-on frames.
Selection involves two steps: juror selection based on artistic merit, followed by artist notification and artwork shipment. A final review verifies that work meets specifications and matches the quality of the digital image. Accepted artists are responsible for all shipping expenses to and from the exhibition. Artwork must be shipped in sturdy reusable cartons. Artwork must be priced for sale, with total price including 30% commission and 9.25% sales tax. Numerous monetary awards and the CIPPY Best of Show award are presented annually; last year cash awards totaled over $16,000. CPSA members may earn Signature status by having their art appear in three CPSA International Exhibitions within 10 years.
