About This Call
The Arts Council Wichita Falls' 17th Annual Sculpture Garden Exhibition at the Kemp Center for the Arts is a year-long exhibition. The juror will accept 10 pieces for exhibition, with artwork displayed for 12 months. All forms of outdoor sculpture will be considered, provided it meets the prospectus requirements. The juror for this event is Waco artist Robbie Barber.
The exhibit space surrounds a public building at 1300 Lamar Street, Wichita Falls, TX 76301, with exhibit areas in both open sunlight and shaded by large trees. Artwork will be placed on steel plates on soft ground with no concrete installation areas available. Sculpture should be garden-sized or larger (at least 3 feet in one dimension recommended). Acceptable media includes metal, stone, ceramic, or any other durable material that will withstand outdoor elements. Pieces must have the capacity to be attached to ¼" steel plate for installation. Artists are responsible for delivery and pick-up of all artwork.
Entry fee is $25.00. Artists will receive an installation stipend totaling $1,000 ($500 on completed installation and $500 on completed uninstallation). Three cash awards will be given by the juror: 1st place ($2,500), 2nd place ($1,000), and 3rd place ($500), presented at the opening reception on May 8, 2021. Artists attending the opening reception will be provided with one hotel room for up to two nights. Sculptures will be on display for 12 months from installation in May 2021 and must remain on display for the entirety of the exhibit. Artists will be notified of their pick-up date and time no less than 30 days prior to removal in 2022. Work samples should include 1-2 images and 0-2 videos (1-4 total samples). Contact [email protected] for further information.
