17th Annual Emerald Spring Painting Exhibition 2023

This is a juried painting competition open to all artists 18 years or older. The nationally recognized juror is Bets Cole. Qualifying media include oil, watercolor, acrylic, encaustic, or pastel, or a combination thereof. If a painting uses two or more mediums, it is considered mixed media and a statement of execution must be provided. Excluded from this competition are drawings, photography, digitally or computer enhanced work, hand-pulled prints, giclees, and reproduction prints.

Artwork must be no larger than 42" in any direction (42"X 42") including frame. Diptychs and triptychs must be contained in one frame that meets size requirements. All entries are presented to the juror anonymously. Accepted works may not be removed before the conclusion of the exhibition. Entry fee is $45 for 2 images, $50 for 3 images, or $55 for 4 images. Artists may submit up to four images per entry but only one entry per artist will be included in the exhibition as selected by the juror. Online CAFE entry is due March 15, 2023. Accepted artwork must be shipped or hand-delivered by April 29, 2023 to Emerald Art Center, 500 Main St, Springfield, Oregon 97477. Hand delivery is available Friday, April 28 or Saturday, April 29, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Notification to artists will be via email no later than April 3, 2023. The exhibition runs May 2 through June 2, with an artist's reception and critique on Saturday, May 6, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Artwork pickup is Saturday, June 3, or shipped June 5 through June 10. Cash prizes include: $1500 Best of Show, $1000 Gold Medal, $700 Silver Medal, $500 Bronze Medal, $300 Award of Distinction, $250 People's Choice Award, and $200 Founder's Award, plus various Merit and Recognition Awards. Paintings must be for sale. Emerald Art Center retains 35% commission. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance of artwork.
