About This Call
Downtown Denver's 16th Street is reopening after a multi-year construction process. The Downtown Denver Partnership is seeking an iconic, sustainable, large art structure to place in the center transit lane of the new 16th Street, prior to the MallRide shuttles resuming service. The art structure needs to be semi-permanent, with the ability to move it every few months to a new block of 16th Street as the street opens 1-2 blocks at a time.
The selected artwork must be durable and able to withstand urban environment and various weather conditions year-round. The project is semi-permanent and self-sustaining, and must be able to remain outdoors for up to 2 years. The art piece should create a new experience for Downtown Denver pedestrians, increase visitors' desire to come Downtown more often and stay longer, and provide an engaging selfie moment that draws people to the space and connects with the local community. The artwork should enhance the character of the surrounding environment and authentically reflect Denver.
Budget: $30,000 maximum, which must include all artist fees, design, materials, engineering costs, freight, installation, and labor. Work samples should include 3-20 total samples (images and/or video). All artists are welcome to apply.
