About This Call
The 15th Annual Sanchez Art Center 50|50 Show invites artists to create 50 small works (6" x 6") over 50 days, from June 26 to August 14, 2023. Each artist selects a theme of 10 words or less for all 50 pieces. The exhibition runs September 8 – October 1, 2023, and will feature approximately 2,500 works with an estimated audience of 1,200 or more viewers.
All fine art visual media are accepted. Sanchez Art Center will provide 50 unprimed non-archival medium-density fiberboard (MDF) panels, 6" x 6" with pre-drilled nail holes, hanging supplies, and pre-hung installation templates. Artists may also use other 6" x 6" panels (small canvases, birch wood box panels, 3D materials) with SAC approval at the artist's expense, as long as presentation is professional and there is rigid support. All works must fit within 6" x 6" x 6" allocated space. The 50th piece may be framed (optional) with frame width not exceeding 10".
All artworks will be for sale. All works by an individual artist must have the same price (except the optional framed 50th piece), with a guideline of $50–$175 each (minimum $45). SAC will process sales and sales tax, taking a 30% commission. Artists are responsible for delivering and installing their works between 11 am–6 pm on August 26, 27, or 28. Each artist will prepare an 8.5" x 11" bio and artist statement to display. Gallery sitting is encouraged for one day during the show (1–3 pm or 3–5 pm). Entry fee is $25; an additional $75 participation fee is due upon acceptance. The juror is Marianna Stark, principal of M Stark Gallery in Half Moon Bay.
