15th Annual Emerald Spring Painting Exhibition

The 15th Annual Emerald Spring Painting Exhibition is a juried painting competition open to all artists 18 years or older. The exhibition is juried by nationally recognized artist Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass, an award-winning watercolor painter with over 40 years of experience and signature member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon and Northwest Watercolor Society.

Qualifying media include oil, watercolor, acrylic, encaustic, pastel, or combinations thereof. Mixed media paintings require a statement of execution. Excluded from the competition are drawings, photography, digitally or computer enhanced work, hand-pulled prints, giclees, and reproduction prints. Artwork must be no larger than 42 inches in any direction including frame. Diptychs and triptychs must be contained in one frame meeting size requirements. All entries are presented to the juror anonymously. Accepted works may not be removed before the conclusion of the exhibition.

Entry fees are $40 for 2 images, $45 for 3 images, and $50 for 4 images. Artists may submit up to four images per entry but only one entry per artist will be included in the exhibition as selected by the juror. Online CAFE entry is due April 15, 2020. Artists will be notified via email no later than April 27. Shipped artwork must be received no later than May 29. Hand-delivered artwork of accepted works may be delivered Friday, May 29 or Saturday, May 30, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Emerald Art Center, 500 Main St, Springfield, Oregon 97477. The exhibition runs June 2 through June 26, with an artist's reception and critique on Saturday, June 6, 5:30 - 8 pm.

Cash prizes include $1500 for Best of Show, $1000 for Gold Medal, $700 for Silver Medal, $500 for Bronze Medal, $300 for Award of Distinction, $250 for People's Choice Award, and $200 for Founder's Award, in addition to various Merit and Recognition Awards. Paintings must be for sale. Emerald Art Center retains a 35% commission. Accepted artwork must be shipped installation ready, framed with wire hangers, and include prepaid return shipping. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance of artwork.
