About This Call

The 15th Annual Art on the Green Sculpture Garden Exhibition at the Kemp Center for the Arts is a year-long outdoor sculpture exhibition. The juror will accept between 8 and 10 pieces for exhibition, with artwork displayed for 12 months. The juror for this event is John Van Alstine. Artists may submit up to three separate applications, with up to three photos of one piece per application. Only artwork submitted will be juried, not body of work.

Sculptures should be garden-sized or larger (at least 3 feet in one dimension recommended). Acceptable media includes metal, stone, ceramic, or any other durable material that will withstand outdoor elements. The exhibit space surrounds a large public building with both open sunlight and shaded areas. Artwork will be placed on a steel plate on soft ground with no concrete installation areas available. Pieces must have the capacity to be attached to ¼" steel plate for installation. Artists are responsible for delivery and pick-up of work at their own expense. Artwork must remain on display for the entirety of the exhibit.

Artists will receive an installation stipend totaling $1,000 ($500 upon installation and $500 upon pick-up), plus one hotel room for up to 2 nights during installation and opening reception. Three cash awards will be given by the juror: 1st prize ($2,500), 2nd prize ($1,000), and 3rd prize ($500). Entry fee is $25.00. Artists must provide biographical information, artist photo, and relevant social media links as requested. The Arts Council and its affiliates may photograph and publish photos and information related to the artwork. Artists agree to include requested biographical and artwork information in the printed and online catalog. Installation is scheduled for May 10, 2019, with the opening reception on May 11, 2019. Artwork takedown is tentatively scheduled for May 8, 2020.
