About This Call
The Art On The Green Sculpture Garden Exhibition at the Kemp Center for the Arts is in its 14th year. This is the first year the event is open to juried artwork rather than by invitation. Artwork will be exhibited for 12 months, displayed throughout the site surrounding a large public building in both open sunlight and shaded areas.
All forms of outdoor sculpture are considered, provided they meet prospectus requirements. Sculptures should be garden-sized or larger (at least 3 feet in one dimension recommended). Acceptable media includes metal, stone, ceramic, or any other durable material that will withstand outdoor elements. Fragile, dangerous, or inappropriate work will not be considered. As a public display in a facility frequently used by children, the Arts Council reserves the right to reject any artwork deemed inappropriate. Pieces must have the capacity to be attached to ¼" steel plate for installation. Artists are responsible for delivery and pick-up of work at their own expense.
Selected artists will receive a $1,000 installation stipend ($500 upon installation and $500 upon pick-up), a hotel room for up to 2 nights during installation and opening reception, and insurance coverage for the replacement value stated by the artist. Three cash awards will be presented by the juror/judge at installation: 1st prize ($2,500), 2nd prize ($1,000), and 3rd prize ($500). If artwork is for sale, the Arts Council receives a 30% commission plus applicable sales tax. Entry fee is $35. Submit 1-3 images of current work. International artists are eligible. Installation dates: May 10-11, 2018. Opening reception and awards: May 12, 2018. Artist takedown: May 9-10, 2019.
