14th Annual Emerald Spring Painting Exhibition 2019

The 14th Annual Emerald Spring Painting Exhibition 2019 is a juried painting competition open to all artists 18 years or older. The exhibition will be juried by nationally recognized artist and instructor Anji Grainger, an award-winning watercolorist and former President of the Watercolor Society of Oregon.

Qualifying media include oil, watercolor, acrylic, encaustic, or pastel, or combinations thereof. Mixed media paintings require a statement of execution. Excluded from the competition are drawings, photography, digitally or computer enhanced work, hand-pulled prints, giclees, and reproduction prints. Artwork must be no larger than 42 inches in any direction including frame. Diptychs and triptychs must be contained in one frame meeting size requirements.

Entry fees are $35 for 2 images, $45 for 3 images, and $55 for 4 images. A $25 handling fee applies for shipped artwork and $10 for hand-delivered work. Artists may submit up to four images per entry, but only one entry per artist will be included in the exhibition as selected by the juror. Online entry via CAFE is required by March 16, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified via email no later than March 25. Accepted artwork must be received by April 27 (shipped) or hand-delivered April 26-27. The exhibition runs May 1-31, 2019, with an artist's reception and critique on Friday, May 3, 5:30-8 p.m. Artwork pickup is Saturday, June 1, with shipping from the gallery June 3-4.

Cash prizes include $1,500 for Best of Show, $1,000 for Gold Medal, $700 for Silver Medal, $500 for Bronze Medal, $300 for Award of Distinction, $250 for People's Choice Award, and $200 for Founder's Award, plus various Merit and Recognition Awards. Paintings must be for sale, with Emerald Art Center retaining a 35% commission. Accepted artwork must be shipped installation-ready with wire hangers and prepaid return shipping labels. Artists are responsible for their own insurance and round-trip shipping costs.
