14th Annual Downtown Colorado Springs Art on the Streets

Art on the Streets is a yearlong outdoor art exhibition and competition showcasing works of new and celebrated artists from across the nation throughout downtown Colorado Springs. The exhibition enlivens the downtown cityscape and urban experience across a 40-square-block district, with the majority of pieces clustered in the busiest 10 to 15 block core.

Artists may enter up to two works with a suggested minimum dimension of 3 feet, vertical or horizontal, scaled to outdoor spaces. Work must be suitable for outdoor display and accessible to the public for approximately 11 months. Proposals using alternative materials and creative use of space are encouraged. Entry fee is $25. Submissions must include full contact information, narrative description of artwork (title, medium, dimensions in feet, price), current professional resume, two-paragraph maximum artist's statement, and installation plan. Images (1-6 samples) should be submitted in digital format through CaFE at www.callforentry.org.

Approximately 8-12 pieces will be selected based on scope and quality of entries. Awards include First Prize $15,000, Second Prize $7,500, and Third Prize $2,500. All selected artists receive a $400 honorarium for installation assistance and two nights complementary lodging for attendance at the VIP party and opening reception. Selection notification occurs March 15, 2012. Opening Reception and Presentation of Awards is June 15, 2012. The exhibit runs through May 2013. Each selected artist is responsible for delivering and installing their work. AOTS provides insurance, publicity, and assistance in the sale of pieces; artists agree to a 25 percent commission payable to Community Ventures, Inc. Jurors are Kathy Loo and Jim Raughton.
