About This Call
The 148th Annual Black and White Exhibition & Sale is open to Salmagundi member artists only. All mediums are accepted, but only monochrome black and white and sepia images are permitted—no color media or accents. Artists may submit up to 2 works that have not been previously shown at Salmagundi. Outside dimensions of frames may not exceed 36 inches. All works must be professionally framed with wire for hanging, or if framing is not applicable, must be professionally presentable for gallery display with appropriate mounting.
Submissions must be high-quality JPEG files at least 1900 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images should be cropped to show only the artwork without matting, frames, or background. Accepted work will remain in place during the exhibition and cannot be removed until it ends. Artists have the option of delivering work in-person during receiving days or shipping with an expected arrival one week before the exhibition opens. If shipping, artists must include a return shipping label and use reusable shipping boxes labeled with the exhibition name.
Acceptance and rejection notifications will be sent via ShowSubmit. If accepted, artists must print and attach hangtags to each artwork before delivery. Works not for sale should be marked "NFS" on the hangtag. The club receives 30% of all sales, with 70% going to the artist. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be submitted by the deadline. Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline, and incomplete entries will be disqualified.
