11th Art 2C on Havana Street Temporary Sculpture Exhibition 2022-2024

The City of Aurora Art in Public Places Program and the Havana Business Improvement District are seeking outdoor sculpture for the 11th Biennial Art 2C On Havana Street exhibition. Selected artists will exhibit their work on Havana Street in Aurora, Colorado for two years, with installation scheduled for the first week of October 2022 and de-installation in mid-September 2024.

Eligibility is regional for artists residing in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Kansas, and Nebraska. Sculptures must be three-dimensional, freestanding works of any medium suitable for outdoor exhibition. Artwork must be made from materials that can withstand Colorado's weather conditions, including temperatures above 100°F and below 0°F, high winds, hail, and significant snowfall. Size requirements: minimum 4 feet and maximum 14 feet in height; weight: minimum 100 lbs. and maximum 4,000 lbs. Artwork should not contain sharp objects or edges and must be durable, require little to no maintenance, be graffiti resistant, and be prepared for installation. All sculptures must be attached to a steel plate bolted to a concrete base.

Artists must transport, install, and de-install their own artwork. Selected artists will receive a $2,500 stipend for transportation, installation, and de-installation. The Havana BID is providing cash awards: 1st Place $1,250, 2nd Place $750, 3rd Place $500. Sculptures may be purchased from the exhibit and added to the City's public art collection. Applications are limited to five sculptures per artist, with one sculpture per application. Each application requires two images (front and back), a professional resume (maximum two pages), and an artist's statement (one page with no more than five sentences describing the artwork).
