11th Annual Drawing Discourse Exhibition

UNC Asheville invites artists to submit entries to a Juried International Exhibition of contemporary drawing. The exhibition seeks to examine drawing as it is practiced and defined by today's artists, demonstrating the continued significance of drawing through both conventional and innovative methods. Accepted work will be exhibited in the Holden Gallery on the campus of Warren Wilson College from January 17, 2020 through February 21, 2020.

Media is open to any traditional or experimental drawing media, welcoming both two and three-dimensional works, video, and/or installation. Works must fit through a standard set of double doors with a 10'3" ceiling height and up to 42' for both floor and wall space. Submissions must include 1-6 images. The entry fee is $30 for the first image, with an additional $5 per image (limit 6 total). Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years of age or older. All work must be original, completed in the past two years, and cannot have been previously exhibited at UNC Asheville.

Juror William Beckman will open the exhibition with a lecture on January 17, 2020 from 5:00-6:00 p.m., followed by an opening reception. A full-color catalogue will be printed, with each accepted artist receiving one complimentary copy. $2,000 in cash prizes will be awarded during the opening reception. Accepted works must arrive ready to install between January 6-10, 2020. A 30% commission will be retained by UNC Asheville from the retail price of any sold work. Notification of juror results will be sent by December 17, 2019.
